The ALIA exhibition Nature as Artifice is currently, until January 19th, being presented by the Pinakothek der Moderne in the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, Germany.
Nature as Artifice is being shown simultaneously with the Rijksmuseum exhibition Der Weite Blick on 19th century Dutch landscape painting
and a selection of 19th century landscape photography from the collection of the Rijksmuseum.
After the presentation in Munich, Nature as Artifice will travel to the United States, where it will be presented by the George Eastman House in Rochester, New York. From June and during the summer of 2009, the George Eastman House will show Nature as Artifice simultaneously with the legendary exhibition New Topographics. This exhibition was first held in 1975 and contains work by artists like Stephen Shore, Robert Adams and Lewis Baltz, who inspired many of the artists in Nature as Artifice. New Topographics is being reconstructed and reconsidered because of the popularity of this exhibition, caused by a new public interest in landscape photography.
